Lake Poway in the morning : Lake Poway in the morning light. Dwayne and I hit the hit at a little before 8:00AM and got back to the car around 11:20AM. Temps were ok right up until 9:00 and then it seemed the sun turned on the afterburners on. It was 103 degrees when we left. Morning light at the lake makes for some cool reflections and effects, and on the backside the Dragonfles are a plenty.

Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum, MCAS Miramar : MCAS Miramar, the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum. The museum is the only official Marine Corps aviation museum in the western United States. The Museum's Official site is here: http://www.flyingleathernecks.org/index.html

I live but a few miles from the museum, have driven by it hundreds of times but have never visited. Second weekend with my 5dMkII and what to do. Well I head on over to the museum and what a pleasant suprise. Plenty to see and do on the grounds and the docents are just great. Being a former Marine it just felt really good to be surrounded by like minded people again.

Mt. Woodson from Lake Poway Park : One heck of a hike. Started out at Lake Poway Park and headed up. Thinking this was closer 8 miles than the advertised 6.3 (round trip) that I read somewhere. Definately has some good grades at times. The trail is well traveled for the most part. The switchbacks get a little thin. Shawn and I both finished off 2 Litres of water before we got back to park. Walking on the day before record heat in San Diego didn't help as it got pretty warm out there.

Blue Sky Ecological Reserve : Blue Sky Ecological Reserve, just NE of Poway off Espola road, has a nice little hiking trail through it. Signs of the Witch Creek fire of '07 are still evident in many of the Blackened Oak trees, but much of the wildlife and flowers have returned. Along the trail you will encounter a trail that leads south to Lake Poway or you can continue along up to Ramona Reservoir.

Old Poway Park Recon : Scouting mission to Old Poway Park for a future SDSLR Photo Group, group shoot. Shawn and I did a little recon to make sure everything was cool for the shoot that would take place a couple months down the road. These are quick snaps and edits (in fact no edit just LR2 w/Dojo Power Tools > Landscape - Auto Tune and Dojo Essentials > BAM) to show the DMG some of the stuff out at the park.

La Jolla lunch outting : Just a quick lunchtime outting down near the La Jolla Shores/Cove area. The processing for me was an exercise in high contrast, high saturation without the use of an HDR type program.

Legoland : A revisit of some stuff I took back in May of 2006. I always steered clear of Legoland in Carlsbad because I thought it was one of those places only for kids...boy was I wrong. There was plenty for the older photog to kick back and enjoy.
